This campground is built on a cliff and that's why the sites are small. It's true that many units had about 8' hanging over the edge of the pad. We did see all types of RV's camping there including large RV's but it is difficult to maneuver into the spots as there's only 1 narrow road between. We set up our trailer beside the paved pad, not on it, as we wouldn't have been able to open up our awning due to a large tree. There isn't any privacy between the sites and they are close together. Sites 122 to 141 are the better sites, though some of the sites at the end of the loop have tent sites below them going down the hill (i.e. 135A, 135B). Some of the B sites were actually situated on the edge of a cliff with a 50' drop below.
We reserved our site 6 months prior in Loop #3 and were not disappointed! Most of the sites (especially those on the outside of the loop) very spacious and had lots of trees for privacy. Would have given this campground a 10 if it had water hook-ups and better nightly programs at the amphi-theatre. (The ranger who hosted the program was reading from notes which made it boring). There is a nice stream running beside the road leading to the campground where you can go tubing, kayaking or canoeing. Wished they would have mentioned this in the campground description so I could have brought my canoe along rather than renting one. Overall, a great park and I would definitely go back again.
As others have commented, there is a steep hill to enter/exit the campground but our 21' trailer posed no problem. We did not find the staff particularly friendly or welcoming. The campground needs updating. The site we had was smaller and lacked privacy; however, we did have a little view of the lake which is located across the street. There is another campground down the street called South Shore which looked in worse condition than this one.
This is a beautiful campground for nature lovers, as the sites are all large, well-spaced, and the trees give lots of privacy. Can't beat the price of $20 including tax. Our site had 50 amp and water, a cement pad and a round cement table with seats. Some sites are on the lake. There isn't a bad site in the place! We stayed here while visiting Nashville (a short drive away), and were very glad we did. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely return.
This park is fine for a one or two night stop-over while in Pigeon Forge; however I wouldn't recommend it if you want to have a peaceful quiet time at your campsite. This is because the sites are extremely close together offering zero privacy. The sites on the water were across a narrow stream from a multi-level building. I was glad that visitors to the campground were not charged a fee to enter, as is the case with most private campgrounds.
